I was handed a hymn book by S.
“More hymns?”
“Not very catholic”, she joked. But I was quite happy to be singing again.
Today was about the Holy Family. In between Harking the Herald and a beautiful rendition of Bread of Life it seemed appropriate, what with the inlaws still here. A reflectiion on Mary and Joseph, especially Joseph and his dutiful patience.
I could use some of that, I thought, as I contemplated one last day of entertaining, which for the most part had been lovely. But which now served as a reminder of how tired I was.
I suppose it’s easy to forget the Holy Family would have felt something much tougher 2,025 years ago. The journey, the pain of child birth, and the uncertainty of what was to come. And no sofa to sink back on with the Radio Times.
