The Feast of the Immaculate Conception
Today was the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, and that lovely gospel passage in which the Blessed Virgin Mary encounters the Angel Gabriel.
There were 15 of us in all. Although I thought they’d be only two of us when I arrived, slightly early, to an empty church.
These smaller, midweek Masses don’t usually involve picking up the Mass book. So I had to freestyle the Gloria (easyish), and then the Nicene Creed (harder). But we all made our way there in some fashion.
I’m fairly certain this was the first mass I attended the year earlier. The first service I’d felt compelled to attend, and plucking up the courage to mention it to my wife.
