Our Lady Immaculate
A rare chance to get to a midweek mass.
I didn’t know what to expect and had the same sinking feeling when I walked in to find it was just me. But I quickly saw others emerging from the shadows, maybe not wanting to sit down before they knew for certain they had company.
It was peaceful. A time to think and reflect. No missal. No chalice. Only seven of us. I just like being in church these days. To have a service taking place is a bonus.
But that didn’t stop the lurking feeling that I needed things to hurry up. I had to pick up my wife, leaving that afternoon at 1pm. About the time the Mass would finish. That also affected my recollection of the Gospel.
My phone buzzed silently as I was kneeling after communion.
